kristinatucker
I am at a loss - I am not sure what I want for our history or geography next year. I only do one or the other and so I need opinions on both. This is what I would like: *Some Christian influence but I dont want it to be totally about missions - something with a nice mix of religion and history. *Something multi level that would work for both 3rd and 6th grades. *Online program could be considered even if they each had to have their own level - something like abeka academy maybe? *We like hands on things to do whether thats reports, project/crafts. Any ideas?

RahRah
While it doesn't have Christian influence (so far as I know), you might want to look at Kingfischer Atlas of the Ancient World, Medieval World, Exploration and Empires, and Modern World (or puchase the World History all-in-one volume with the same contents in one book).....it combines the geography and history into a single source/spine to use, so you're covering both history and geography without much fuss. It's not as in-depth as Story of the World with its Activity Guide, but could work well - you'd just need to come up with project ideas and activities to do along with the book. ChrissySC
The first thing that came to mind is SOTW and Biblioplan - you could use HO too. Choose Ancients level 1 and 2 to cover both.
kristinatucker
Okay, I need to go and see what these abbreviations mean. I am forum illiterate :) I will look into these. Thanks!
Chris in VA
What "part" of history do you want to cover? WTM/neoclassical divides it into 4 periods--Ancients (to 400AD), Medieval/Ren (to 1600), Early Modern (to 1840), and Modern (1840 to present), with a little leeway in some of the years. ChrissySC
I am so sorry ... SOTW - Story of the World (four volumes for four years) http://www.welltrainedmind.com/store/history-and-geography/story-of-the-world.html HO - History Odyssey (four books with three levels, grammar, logic, and rhetoric stages) http://www.pandiapress.com/history_odyssey.htm Biblioplan http://www.biblioplan.net/
kristinatucker
haha, its not your fault I have not learned all the lingo yet but thank you for posting those links. I could not figure out what HO was! haha. I will take a look at these. As far as what era - I am flexible in that but I know my kids would love to learn about egytian history. I would like to teach them of the early america so really either of those I would be happy with.
ChrissySC
I would start at the beginning. :) You just need to choose a guide or decide to do it yourself. (I am in the diy phase this year - again.)
