3rd grade chemistry

Two programs I'm considering for next year are The Elements and RS4K Level I.

I know that both are for 4th grade and up but ds LOVES science and I think the pre-level RS4K would be too simple for him. This is a kid who picks science books to read in his free time and whose favorite videos as a preschooler were Bill Nye, Popular Mechanics for Kids and Magic School Bus.

Any thoughts on either? Experience using them with a slightly younger kid?

We are doing a chemistry science in a co-op setting, but my 3rd grader wanted to do The Elements on our own. He loved it so much he asked me to get Carbon Chemistry when we were done with The Elements.

I didn't have him do all the experiments or games and we worked on the worksheets together. Content wise I think it would be fine for a 3rd grader esp one that likes science.
