ereks mom
A family friend has been named STAR student for a nearby school district. STAR student. That means he had the highest SAT score in the entire district. His score? 1760. Yes, only 1760. Out of 2400. :001_huh: :svengo: Edited March 4, 2011 by ereks mom

Is there some sort of scholarship attached to that? If so, good for him.
ereks mom
So what does a STAR student get? Is there some sort of scholarship attached to that? "Every accredited high school in Georgia is eligible to participate in the Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program. To obtain the STAR nomination, high school seniors must have the highest score on the test date on the three-part SAT taken through the November test date of their senior year and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average. Each high school STAR Student is asked to name his/her STAR Teacher. High school STAR Students compete for system titles; and system STAR Students in turn compete for region honors in the 12 STAR Regions. Region winners and their STAR teachers are invited to Atlanta to compete for the state STAR scholarships and awards." Unfortunately, homeschoolers are not allowed to participate. If they were, I'm sure that--at least on the local level--homeschoolers would win the competition handily. Can you imagine the STAR in many districts being a homeschooler. :D
