coffeegal
Probably. I prefer to have fewer subjects, or more combined work, than many. My 8 yo son has 5-6 assignments. My 11 yo dd has around 9.
Tiffnkids
I have 3 logic stagers (10,12,13). They have 7-9 assignments per day, not including free reading and studying vocab.

Mallory
Since my boys are the same age, I'll tell you what we have :D My 9yo has 12 boxes to check on his schedule. If he were going to count work to get through he'd probaly say 7 things (math, handwriting, logic, spanish, reading, history, science). The others are for the two boxes for math (IP and CWP), memory work, spanish flashcards, and specific boxes under science and history for either narration or dictation. Those are either very easy and quick or part of the other assignment. My 11yo has 14 boxes, probably would count 9 things. So I'd say you are pretty close to us ;)
Hannah
For the week my 11yo (6th grade) has math (1 1/2 lessons of MUS Epsilon), english (1 lesson each of IEW SWI B, Kiss grammar, dictation, memorization) afrikaans, (daily reading a biography which doubles as composers study & 1 lesson of textbook) history (3 lessons of k12HO, daily reading from historical novel) science (2 sections of PH science explorer) geography (map reading skills at the moment) art appreciation (2 sections from textbook) music practice we've dropped Latin for now and I'm waiting for a logic book to arrive. I let her choose how to complete this and she typically does 4 to 5 hours of school per day. We're in a rut, so I'm thinking of experimenting for a week and telling her that besides math, she can decide what to learn for herself for the week. She has to be busy learning for 5 hours and come up with some 'proof' that she has done so. If it works, we'll see how frequently to do this.
