freethinkermama
Any suggestions? I'm looking for a good kids site to explain the political parties to my littles? I've found several sites that discuss the history of American politics, but nothing that really can explain the parties as they are today--for kids. I'm cross-posting this to the general board. TIA! ChicoryChick
I can't remember if this book goes into the different parties (my copy is packed for moving right now), but Woodrow for President by Cheryl Shaw Barnes (they also have other books about governement) is a cute book about elections. I also so this book on Amazon about Presidential Elections that looks like it might explain the different parties.
HappyCamper
I have to smile because my daughter's teacher found this subject so sensative that he asked the parents of his class to talk about it with their children. My daughter is 8. I love the ideas about presenting the parties in the historical contexts. We had a brief talk outlining the positive and negative images of the R and D party and mentioned that both parties have great diversity within. Love the idea of the presenting the party histories. Satori
:bigear: I'm starting to think about how to teach all this to my daughter. I'll have to check out some of those books mentioned. Earlier this week I noticed one of our favorite puzzles offers a Red State - Blue State version!
