Katie.Louise
Hi, I was wondering if this is possible? I just got a laptop (finally), and I was wondering if I can set it up to send things to my printer that is hooked up to our desktop computer? Is this what setting up a "network" would do? Thanks so much, Katie
Mama Geek
A wireless print server is what you would need, but that doesn't allow you to do things like scan wirelessly. Dh said that a wireless printer would be almost as cheap as a wireless print server and a new set of ink for the old printer.
Dawn in OH
My laptop is networked to our desktop computer. The desktop computer is hooked up to the printer. I can print from the laptop to the printer. I am not "computer-y", just the wife of someone that is.
Katie.Louise
Thank you both for your replies. Dawn, that is exactly what I was hoping for. I didn't want to have to get a new printer. I love my printer. It is old, but it prints 1300 pages per cartridge. Yeah! I will look into this more. Does anyone else know how to tell me how to set up a network? Or do I need a computer person to do it? Thanks so much, Katie
lulubelle
To your first question, my husband says yes. To your second question - mac or pc?
Katie.Louise
Thank you all so much. I did a little looking and figured out how to do it on my own. I am so excited! I love being able to send things to my printer from my laptop. So handy. Thanks again, Katie
