Blessed with seven
Hi, I have two older daughters that I would love to do geography with BUT...time is limited. We have had very little "formal" geography and I really want something they can do on their own that would give them a good education in geography...workbook style, I know, I know. I love Charlotte Mason but the reality is...I sometimes need to use workbooks. My girls are 7th and 8th grade....keeping in mind we really need a "beginning" geography course of some sort. Thanks! Guest
Evan Moor has Daily Geography practice books for grades 2-6. But they are beginning books. This company also has some unit type (I think) geography books. I haven't used them. A VERY basic book is The Complete Book of Geography by American School Publishing. Barnes and Noble carries it. You might find it on Amazon, too. Also, National Geographic has a series. Another one is Maps, Globes, and graphs by Steck-Vaughn. Hope this helps. Brindee
Geography Matters has Trail Guides to World, Bible, and US Geography. They're fun to use, and not "heavy" at all! My dd11 does them independently mostly. The lesson plans are included inside the books! You might want to check them out: http://www.geomatters.com/ I also got the Student Notebook cd. mcconnellboys
I think they could do the Beautiful Feet guides using the Holling books on their own at that age. If you got the maps to go with it, they'd have a beautiful finished project to share with the family, too!
BizyPenguin
I've got a list of geography resources on my blog. Good luck choosing!
