I've been lurking here for a while gathering a lot of great info on Homeschooling/education. Since English is my 2nd language.(korean is 1st lang.) I always feel inadequate to teach english(esp. grammar/writing for my 6th ds.) This is my 1st year HS. My youngest dd K is still in PS. I plan to bring her home when I feel somewhat confident about HSing my 2 older kids.

I mostly need advice for 6th grade son. He can write pages (3-5) when writing a story. But he doesn't know how to write a 5 par. essays or other type of expository papers. We need a curriculum to teach him to write an essay paper, research paper, etc. Since I don't feel quite qualified to teach writing, independent type workbook would be great.

I do have WWE 1~4 and story starters. He likes story starters but, he needs the instruction on structure, mechanics and not creativity.

Should I place him somewhere in WWE 3? He hasn't had any narrration exercise at all.

My 3rd grade son will be doing WWE 2,GWG 3, & SOTW+AG+other books, MPH science or Elementary Science(haven't decided yet)+books.

6th grader grammar& writing(hasn't decided yet),K12 Human Odyssey+what in the world, sotw audio, Apologia General science.

Both of them will do Robinson curriculum book list+ sonlight, ambleside book list and Saxon math in their level.

I happened to notice a lot of you recommend CLE for LA should I try that for my kids? Does that have "writing essay" curr. built in?

I would love to hear any advice. Thank you so much!

For writing you might want to look at Meaningful Composition or Writing Strands.

I haven't ever held a copy of CLE in my hands, but it is my understanding that they do not include writing instruction. However, I've heard that it is a very solid grammar program. Another one you might want to take a look at for grammar is Rod & Staff.
