cdrumm4448
I know, it's weird. I need to figure out the area of an 18" pizza and a 14" pizza in order to determine the best buy (the 18" pizzas are BOGOF, and the 14" pizzas are $5.00 each.) My brain is shot. Anybody? Perry
Area of a circle = pi*r^2 (pi r squared) so large pizza = 3.14*9^2=254.5 square inches small pizza = 3.14*7^2=153.9 square inches Edited December 6, 2010 by Perry

Beatusduo
Πr2 What I am trying to type is... Pie times radius squared. This will give you the area of a circle.
Perry
Area of a circle = pi*r^2 (pi r squared)so large pizza = 3.14*9^2=254.5 small pizza = 3.14*7^2=153.9 Also, at $5 per small pizza, the rate is 3.25 cents per square inch. At that rate, 2 large pizzas would be $16.51. So if the large pizzas are less than that, they are the better value.
cdrumm4448
Also, at $5 per small pizza, the rate is 3.25 cents per square inch. At that rate, 2 large pizzas would be $16.51. So if the large pizzas are less than that, they are the better value. The large is $20.51, but they are BOGOFree, so $10.26, up to 8 pizzas. The problem is I have 27 adults, 26 kids and 11 preschoolers. Assuming 3 slices per adult, 2 per child and 1 per preschooler, we would need 164 slices. At 10 slices per Rosati's pizza, that would be 17 pizzas. They only BOGO free up to 4. So, I would need 9 more at @20.51 which would be $184.59 + the 8 (BOGOFree). We don't have that much money. I will have about $157 to spend, so I was thinking of having Little Caesars cut their pizzas into 6 slices (instead of 8). Then 164 slices/6=28. 28*$5=$140. Does this math sound correct? hana
I can't imagine all adults will eat three slices at a social gathering. I know I would eat two at the most. So maybe figuring 2 1/2 per adult would be more accurate? Yeah, that doesn't really help does it?
Mrs Mungo
I would figure 2 slices/adult and then make salad, cut up fruit, something like that. eta: What sort of event is this? You might ask about specials on large orders/catering sized orders, it might be cheaper than their regular deals or coupons. If you have a local chain, then they might cut you a deal if it's a non-profit group. Edited December 6, 2010 by Mrs Mungo
