Christmas Memorization Ideas??

Recommended Posts

I would love find something to memorize for Christmas that also helped my kids to learn some type of information.

For instance, we memorized In 1492 this past month and the kids learned a lot about Christopher Columbus! :)

In the past we have memorized Isaiah 9:6-7 (For to us a child is born...)

Also, the Christina Rosetti poem, What Can I Give Him? (except I didn't realize til recently that this short verse was actually part of a longer poem??)

What can I give Him,

Poor as I am?

If I were a shepherd

I would bring a lamb,

If I were a wise man

I would do my part,

Yet what I can I give Him,

Give my heart.

Any other Christmas suggestions??

thanks!

Christmas Everywhere, by Phillips Brooks

Everywhere, everywhere, Christmas tonight!

Christmas in lands of the fir-tree and pine,

Christmas in lands of the palm-tree and vine,

Christmas where snow peaks stand solemn and white,

Christmas where cornfields stand sunny and bright.

Christmas where children are hopeful and gay,

Christmas where old men are patient and gray,

Christmas where peace, like a dove in his flight,

Broods o'er brave men in the thick of the fight;

Everywhere, everywhere, Christmas tonight!

For the Christ-child who comes is the Master of all;

No palace too great, no cottage too small.

................

There are a number of wonderful selections here:

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
