Do they have any other books scheduled in their book, or is it just readings from their own book and the rest is optional?

MOH was written as a stand-alone history course. However, they do have a list of supplemental books and resources that correlate with each lesson in the back of the book, but nothing is required except the text itself.

Exactly. There is a program called Illuminations, which is an LA, Literature, science for younger kids, writing, and basically everything you need for k-12 except upper level science all scheduled around MOH. It is the brain child of the publisher of MOH.

 

But MOH all by itself works.

Illuminations is very groovy! It makes it VERY VERY easy to schedule readers alongside MOH readings. There is a LOT included there, even full length novel studies etc. I think it's definitely worth checking out if you like to use MOH as a spine. :)
