persephone43
My 9 year old son will be at home in January from PS and is grade level in math but gets bored easily with traditional texts and is I think a kenesthetic type learner. Both of these programs look great and I'm having trouble deciding between the two. He likes math and I want that to continue and make that and science the "fun part" of our day. He struggles with reading and spelling and we will have to focus a lot of the day of strenthening that area so I want this subject to not be so heavy and intensive...and yet I want him to be challenged enough. That being said, we are still waiting to have him tested for a possible learning disability..even though I think it may just go back to his learning style. He has stopped wanting to learn and is very fidgety and physically active, so getting him to sit still for more than a half hour will be a challange. He is currently in the 3rd in ps and had to repeat 1st grade..and still is really struggling. Thanks :)
Crimson Wife
While I prefer RS to MUS, one important thing to keep in mind is that RS only goes up to 4th or 5th grade (depending on whether you place him in C or D as a 3rd grader). MUS goes up through high school math.
siloam
My kids are also kinesthetic learners, and all are thriving in RS. The differences that stand out to me (this is 2nd hand not personal experience) is their are less worksheets in RS and RS uses the games to learn math facts by as much or more than practice sheets. These are big issues here because the kids are all dysgraphic (can't trace a straight line without having white space between the original and their line multiple times), and have recall issues so the other methods I tried to use in memorizing math facts (Flashmaster, Claculadders and plain old flashcards) fell flat. RS just works here. Heather
