Kay in Cal
I've got a few things on my shelves as read alouds, but I'd like to spend at least the second half of the year focusing our literature study on Shakespeare. He's already watched movies of "Much Ado About Nothing" and "Midsummer Night's Dream" and enjoyed both of them. Thoughts? Any other suggestions for Shakespeare for next year? My ds is a strong reader--he's finishing up the second of the Harry Potter books right now for his fun reading--but he'll be 6, ya know? MIch elle
We love'm. I think they give a better picture of the story than Lamb's version. Go to my blog Aperite Libros linked in my signature for more ideas.
Adrianne
We read the Tempest and have plans to read others. Both of my boys 9 and 5 enjoyed it as a read aloud. We also enjoyed the pictures too! I recommend them!
Mom to 3 Island Boys
My kids have really enjoyed them (they are preschool to age 10). Even though it is definitely not the brilliant verse of Shakespeare, I think it's nice that it's in couplet form so they get a little better feel for art of beautiful language than they do with the purely narrative versions. I think these books make Shakespeare accessible to even very young children while retaining a good amount of the content.
