Veritaserum
Dd's OM 5th grade arrived yesterday. We bought it used and it came with the math program. Dd wants to try it, but I'd like opinions of anyone who has used it. She is doing fairly well with Math Mammoth (4B) and will finish it in the next few weeks. She wants to switch to OM 5 math after that. Math Mammoth is "conceptual". Is OM also? One advantage to OM is she could stay with it through high school. MM only goes through 6th. MM is already her third elementary math program (after MUS and CLE). She is...math challenged. Thoughts?
Melissa B
I've never used their math but thought I would mention that Oak Meadow switches to Saxon Math for high school.
Veritaserum
I've never used their math but thought I would mention that Oak Meadow switches to Saxon Math for high school. Ah. Good to know. I didn't realize that. :) I haven't looked much about Saxon, but I gather it falls more into "traditional" rather than "conceptual"--am I right? meet me in paris
Yes, it's traditional, and it's more mastery than spiral (which I like, and which is similar to MM). I used 6th & 7th (maybe 5th, too, I can't remember!) but definitely from 6th up it is written directly to the student, which is also a big plus in my book. We were happy with it, but didn't want to use Saxon for the upper grades, so we switched over to Math-U-See for Pre-Alg.
