AngieW in Texas
My Aspie 15yo is possibly interested in becoming an OT, but she isn't sure whether or not she can physically do the job because she still has some fine motor delays that aren't ever going to get better. Only an OT would be able to see that she has fine motor delays. She has a hard time with buttons and zippers, but she can do them - they just take her a while sometimes. She has legible handwriting. Little kids seem to connect with her. She often ends up with 2-5yo groupies at the park. She pushes them on the swings and talks to them without talking down to them. m0mmaBuck
I'm a PT but I think your DD would be fine as an OT, especially if she is considering pediatric OT. If she did have to do things she struggles with (such as work on buttons and zippers), the kids would probably identify with her even more.
