WiseOwlKnits
Both of my kids LOVE the Fisher Price Trio blocks. MIL bought some and they have played with them non-stop! They come with a book of things you can build, or you can build stuff on your own with them. Here's an example of them.
cougarmom4
My parents gave dd3 some of those for her birthday and she loves them! More surprisingly, the other kids couldn't stay away from them either-even ds13 loved playing with them.
Tenaj
You may want to check at your local Walmart because I saw a bunch of these on the clearance rack at our store the other day. I almost snagged them all for my kids for Christmas because they like them but alas, the budget did not allow. They weren't in the toy section, but in the seperate section with all the clearance items - not sure how different Walmarts handle this, but ours is a completely seperate clearance shelf. I bought the pink princess castle bucket for $7.00!!!

delaney
Sears had some of the $19 sets for $5.50!! DS loves them and even the 21 month old and can snap and build! My 14 yr old and his friends made guns and were playing war one night!
