smalltown mom
Ok, so I'm filling out the school district requirements for my kids, and I have to report my plan of instruction for "social studies." Yeah, I vaguely remember social studies in 4th grade. What can I put down/should I put down for this? We've got middle ages history/literature/geography this year, per SOTW. We'll have earth science and astronomy and logic. But what do we do for social studies??
Guest Cheryl in SoCal
social studies –noun a course of instruction in an elementary or secondary school comprising such subjects as history, geography, civics, etc. I think you are OK:001_smile:
Rivka
Your history and geography are social studies.

NanceXToo
Here are my "proposed educational objectives by subject area," which I submitted to my district, if you want to take a quick peek. It doesn't specifically say "social studies" but I believe that's covered under history/geography/civics. http://nancextoo.livejournal.com/122810.html
mnllj7
I dont like the name Social Studies. I totally believe it is a Government School Word. Teaching more Social things going on instead of the True History to study. But if you cover History, Geography and Government, you are getting social studies. nancyt.
