LisaKinVA
We start "hitting" high school courses next year. I've been sifting through the various threads on transcripts, which has answered some questions regarding what to actually put ON the transcript. My "bigger" question is -- does anyone know how colleges look on non-standard high school work (for example, DS will have taken physical science, biology, and chemistry before high school -- so we are looking at things such as MIT, Notre Dame and other open courseware to develop some more interesting science courses. Are there any "opinions" out there regarding this option of a non-standard HS science progression? (Science is the only subject for which this truly matters, as I don't believe colleges would have a problem seeing Trigonometry, Calculus, AP Statistics and Linear Algebra or Spherical Trigonometry) Anyone? Thank you.
Michelle in AL
The only specific request I've seen is that at least 2 of the sciences have a lab component.

I would note on your transcript that your child had taken high school level Biology and Chemistry prior to high school. (And if you could corroborate this with SAT subject test scores so much the better.) I would recommend that you join the Yahoo group hs2coll · Homeschooling toward college. A number of people who post there have advanced students who have dealt with similar issues. There is a lot of good advice to be had there; I'd suggest you start by reading some archived posts.
