Anyone use Abeka Grammar

Just curious if anyone has had success with Abeka grammar. We have done Rod and Staff for a few years, but I really wanted a workbook approach. So, we are going with Abeka for grades 6 and 8.

Abeka is a solid grammar curriculum -- just feel free to not do 100% of every single activity (also, I'd skip most-to-all of the composition/writing in favor of something else)

ABeka is not as strong in composition as R&S, as most of the assignments are in the teacher guide, which most hsers don't need. You might want to consider adding other writing assignments. Also, as LisaK says, DON'T have your dc do all of the grammar lessons. Do some orally, skip some, whatever. Otherwise your dc will burn out on all.that.grammar.

:iagree:with both PP. Dd10 has used it since 2nd grade and loves it. When I tried to switch to another program last year, she offered to use her own money if I would buy her ABeka Language again. I haven't used the grades you're planning on using it with so I can't review those for you, but I'm sure it's thorough. It might be a nice change from Rod & Staff. You could always switch back next year. :tongue_smilie:

Thanks for the replies... We don't plan to use the composition portion. We are using IEW for that.
