jld
Does anyone else not like Jorge Luis Borges, either? If you do enjoy his work, what is it you like about it? Any other Latin American authors or works you have strong opinions on?
Rosie_0801
Does Paulo Coelho count? His books are interesting. Rosie
jld
I'm not familiar with Coelho, although I think I've read the name here before. I'm really only familiar with Marquez, Borges, and Allende, and only kind of like Allende. That's my whole experience with LA lit of the past half century or so, or all I can remember, anyway. I'm really interested in which authors and works people like, and why. I think I need some inspiration to spark an appreciation of this region's literature. Ester Maria
I'm okay with Borges - probably not in my "Top X", but certainly readable. Marquez and Allende don't "click" with me, and Coelho I tend to group with "schund literatur" (sorry if you like him :)). Cortazar is quite interesting, though. I recommend La Rayuela.
