Suzanne in ABQ
I e-mailed McNeil pharmaceuticals at least a month ago regarding the bottle of recalled Tylenol sitting in my medicine cabinet. I was hoping to get a coupon for a new bottle. I didn't hear anything until today. Instead of a coupon, I got this message that seems to indicate that these products won't be available until the end of the year. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Suzanne, Thank you for contacting us about our infants’ and children’s liquid over-the-counter (OTC) medicines that were recalled on April 30, 2010. We would like to provide you with an update on these products. You may have noticed that infants’ and children’s liquid products from TYLENOL®, MOTRIN® and ZYRTEC® are not available where you shop. Since ensuring the quality of our products is our top priority, we are conducting a comprehensive quality review across our manufacturing operations, and we have identified corrective actions that we will take before we begin manufacturing again at the plant where the recalled products were made. Unfortunately, this means we do not anticipate having sources of supply for most of these infants’ and children’s liquid products before the end of the year. We hope you will accept our sincere apology for the inconvenience and concern this may cause you. We want you to know that there are a number of other over-the-counter (OTC) medicines intended for infants and children that are available. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist about which alternate products are appropriate for your infant or child. Before you use alternate products, you should check the labeling. And, we remind you, do not give any medicine to infants or children that are not intended for those age groups, as this could result in serious harm. We hope this update was helpful to you. Please visit http://www.tylenol.com; http://www.motrin.com; or http://www.zyrtec.com for updated information. We appreciate your patience as we work hard to return these products to the market. Sincerely, McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Fortunately, I haven't needed any of these medications lately. I haven't noticed that they are missing from the shelves. What's your experience? Are these products available where you live?
Johanna
they sent us a check for a refund when I called to tell them I had just bought a 2 bottle pack brand new right before recall. I was grateful. I just buy generic.....works exactly the same. Usually walmart sells generic under equate brand.
ChristusG
Since all these recalls, I've begun purchasing the store brands. I never hear of recalls with them.
