ktgrok
We will have a 4 day schedule because he will attend the local public school one day a week, for a gifted enrichment program. This will be our first year homeschooling, and we will be using Tapestry of Grace with Writing Aids, although I will sometimes use copywork or dictation in place of their ideas, as he has never done those before and because of a processing disorder they would be very helpful for him. Oh, and Math Mammoth, Grammar Simplified, a free typing program, an etiquette book from the 1950s, and Rosetta Stone for Spanish. *edited to add that the art/music will be Harmony Fine Arts - Ancient Art and Intro to Orchestra. Day 1. history readings (1 hour) mapwork (15 min) vocab/spelling (15 min) math (30 min) spanish (15 min) typing (15 min) copywork (15 min) religion (15 min) 2 literature readings (1 hour) writing (30 min) spanish (15 min) typing (15 min) vocab/spelling (15 min) math (30 min) etiquette (15 min) grammar (15 min) 3 Science (1 hour) vocab/spelling (15 min) typing (15 min) spanish (15 min) math (30 min) writing (30 min) etiquette (15 min) religion (15 min) 4 History Hand On Project (1 hour0 vocab/spelling review (15 min) math (30 min) spanish (15 min) typing (15 min) copywork (15 min) Discuss History (15 min - 30) Lit worksheet/narration (15 min) grammar (15 min) turn in writing assignment Afternoons - 1 hour for movie/music/art/life skills Katie Edited May 28, 2010 by ktgrok
ktgrok
I should add that this child is above grade level for reading, and spells very well for the most part. He has had very little formal grammar, and does not have great handwriting. He is also not 100 percent on board with the idea of homeschooling, but I'm hoping short lessons might help? ktgrok
ok, so that looks pretty similar as far as the amount of time goes. I don't want to overwhelm him, but I don't want to shortchange him educationally either. And being in school one day a week makes everything more difficult as far as scheduling. ktgrok
My husband wants to look at what I have planned out, as he is somewhat skeptical of homeschooling. I am hoping that this isn't too much, or too little.
