cajunkaren
Can someone tell me the difference between civics and free enterprise? My son needs a half credit of each next year . I found some American Government books. In your opinion would that cover both of these subjects? Thanks to all, Karen
Photo Ninja
By free enterprise are you referring to an Economics course? Many states do require a semester of Civics/Government and a semester course of Economics. If so, then no, the government books probably don't cover economics well enough to apply to Economics as well.
amyco
Free enterprise is like a consumer math class, similar to personal finance plus extra topics. It covers topics such as balancing a checkbook, credit cards, how to write a complaint letter, interest rates, renting vs. buying, basic supply/demand theory, etc. I think the point of this requirement is to send out young adults with some inkling of how to be a good financial citizen. If you are interested in a Christian perspective, Math-U-See has a course called Stewardship that I think would cover it. In any case you can look at their list of topics to see what's covered. http://www.mathusee.com/default.php?cPath=2_19 Hopefully that link works. Another thought: can you contact your local high school and ask for a syllabus or for the name of the book they use?
