HerdingCats
I am looking at starting my 7th grader in ML. I have heard AG does a good job with punctuation, but I like the way MCT appears to integrate the LA topics. Anyone familiar with both of these? Granny_Weatherwax
I have not used AG so I cannot discuss what it covers. I am using ML, along with the rest of MCT's upper series, so I might be able to help. MCT treats punctuation as a foundation of grammar. I am using Magic Lens and it covers punctuation after the parts of speech, parts of sentence, phrases and clauses. It has a 6 page section covering each type of punctuation and gives examples for each use. There are punctuation as a function of grammar acitivities/quizzes in each of the Loops. AAW covers punctuation as well and goes more indepth about punctuation in academic writing. 4practice discusses the use of punctuation in some of the sentences, but only if the punctuation is unique. Punctuation as a tool in poetry is also discussed in the Poetry and Humanity book. HTH
