Perry
I just read an article on our local news station about ebook downloads. But when I look at the library catalog, the options are limited to downloading to PC or Mac. Have you been able to check out books to your Kindle? RegGuheert
I don't know about Kindle, but I think access to library books is one of the features of the Nook. I believe it was discussed in one of the previous threads. Click on the 'nook' tag below to bring up those discussions. ETA: Here's an article which discusses getting books from the public library. It was written in November, so I'm not sure if Kindle has changed since then. I believe they started supporting *.pdf format after the Nook was announced. Edited January 29, 2010 by RegGuheert Fixed the spelling of "announced".

Yes, they issued a software upgrade for native pdf support after the Nook came out. Dirty dogs were holding back on us!
Guest kindleluver
I realize this is an old thread, but I have actually checked out ebooks from a library, and read them on my Kindle, without removing the DRM. I followed the instructions from tip #3 at http://kindletips.slickferret.com/
redsquirrel
If your library uses overdrive for ebooks then, as far as I can tell, you cannot borrow using a Kindle. If that has changed in the past couple weeks, then that is great!

Correction, if you read my previous post, you would use the instructions to find an overdrive system that has mobipocket format ebooks, and check them out like I did.
