KIN
I would encourage you to take a look at Rod and Staff's Bible Readers and workbooks for these ages! I have several friends using them and they have always talked positively about them, but I never took a serious look at them. Well, I just bought the 1st readers for my K'r b/c he is beginning to read. They are great! I then took a look at the 3rd grade set and I love it! It is much more varied than Explorer's, easier to understand than Memoria Press' Christian Studies, and more grade appropriate than Explorer's. I bought them all this year to compare, so I've looked them all over. Rod and Staff had the following positives over Explorer's IMHO (for 1st-4th): The readers are age appropriate, so the child can read them outloud or on their own The readers are very true to the Bible. The workbooks have more varied ways to reinforce the lessons than Explorer's Discovery - matching, fill in the word blanks, complete sentence answers, maps, finding the word in the text, even a few crossword puzzles! It is killing 2 birds with 1 stone, LOL! It is combining reading and Bible, which are some of the important things I want to focus on at these ages. Much of it can be done independently, starting very early. Currently, we read together and then ds fills out the workbook on his own. . Anyway, I just wanted to share this option for those looking for a Bible curriculum for these ages!

TracyR
Yes. I've heard the same thing on the Christian Light Families Yahoo group . Rod and Staff and CLE seem to have nice , easy to read Bible programs. Thanks for sharing your review .
