CathyCDK Posted December 31, 2009 Share Posted December 31, 2009 Quick survey! We have a lot of Mega Blocks and Duplo's and I would like to get rid of one of them. We have foster children ages 7 and younger, and almost always have a child that is in the baby/toddler stage, for which these blocks are suited. Which would be better to keep? Mega Blocks: Bigger, easier for younger children to handle, build bigger structures (for sense of accomplishment), take up more space. Duplo's: Smaller, take up less space, better quality, higher resale value, babies might not handle as well. Thanks for your comments! MyLittleWonders Posted December 31, 2009 Share Posted December 31, 2009 We kept all the Duplo's and got rid of all the Mega Blocks, for pretty much the (positive) reasons you stated - the quality of them was key for us. (Though we could probably be called "Lego snobs" ;), we definitely prefer the quality of Lego over Mega Blocks in all the stages of brick/age/size.) extendedforecast Posted December 31, 2009 Share Posted December 31, 2009 I'd keep all the Duplo blocks and get rid of the mega-blocks, except for about 15-20 for the baby stage. I have a 20 count box of mega blocks that my 7yo DD loved when she was a baby. This was before she was able to put together and take apart the duplos. We have a couple Mega Block sets that we will keep....Cars and Princess, and a set that builds a doll house. But I think the rest will have to find a new home.
