FairProspects
I'm covering American history this year using I Love America for 4-7 y.o. as a base, and adding in titles. I Love America schedules one person to study each month, and I'm wanting to add a read-aloud novel involving each person each month. I'm stuck however on Thomas Jefferson and Betsy Ross/American flag. Anyone know of some good read-aloud fiction on either of these? Just for reference here is what I've got scheduled already: George Washington - Cinnabar, the one o'clock fox Federalism/The Constitution - Skyrockets for the President Benjamin Franklin - Ben and Me Native American encounters - Small Wolf, Good Hunting Blue Sky
NicoleA
We have a book from the seventies that you might be able to find in a library -- Grand Papa and Ellen Aroon, by F. N. Monjo -- which is told from the point of view of Jefferson's granddaughter. For Betsy Ross, what about Betsy Ross: Patriot of Philadelphia? You can preview some chapters here: http://books.google.com/books?id=vZhWpybtlLsC&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_v2_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q=&f=false
