Apologia Astronom: Can you start in January? Also, who does Sonlight science as well

We are finishing up Sonlight science K and we would like to do Apologia Astronomy. Has anyone started in January and finish before summer? That is my plan, but I may have to change it if we cannot be out using our telescope to see the sky in the cold weather. What is best?

Also do you do Sonlight science and alternate with apologia elementary science? That is what I would like to do. Is there a better science to use along with apologia? I don't want to use apologia alone since it is one subject for a year or at least half a year. I want some variety to throw in.

I think you can easily finish it in half a year. It is scheduled to do only half a chapter a week, so you would only have to do 1 chapter a week to get done.

I hadn't even considered the time of year most appropriate for Apologia's astronomy. We just started it last week ourselves. Won't use the telescope, but there are many constellations to be seen. Casseiopiea (sp) and Orion are very visible right now. Meteor showers tonight I believe! Plentariums are open year round.
