Pip
My youngest, who is a swimmer, appears to have swimmer's ear. Her outer ear is really hurting and is tender to the touch. I have been applying a mixture of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide as well as colloidal silver. I am also going to get some OTC ear pain reliever. Don't they make an OTC swimmer's ear treatment? She hasn't gotten any relief today and the dr's office is closed until Monday.
lionfamily1999
They do, but ime it doesn't work for swimmer's ear. I couldn't get the pain killer drops to stay down (we used hp and alcohol for drops to dry my ear out). On the label: Similasan, Healthy Relief: Relieves pain, soothes & calms "Homeopathic, Earache Relief" ear drops Active ingredients (homeopathic): Chamomilla HPUS 10X Mercurius solubilis HPUS 15X Sulphur HPUS 12X Manufactured by: Similasan AG, Switzerland Made in Switzerland Inactive Ingredients: Glycerine
HayesW
Try vinegar with alcohol. When you use peroxide, it doesn't evaporate as well as the alcohol, so somtimes there is water left in the ear. We were able to survive over a weekend with this method as well as the Similisan remedy.
Jen in PA
I am very prone to swimmers ear. I usually use the vinegar and rubbing alcohol method, combined with a blowdryer set on low and held at a good distance from the ear. I take Advil for the pain.
