Dianne-TX
We have decided to only give the kids 3 gifts each this year. I want them to be good, worthwhile gifts, though. Any ideas for this age group?
lovetobehome
Listen carefully to what they say;that is what I am doing. My kids are the same ages. We get them one gift each St Nicholas day (in lieu of doing gifts on Christmas). For my daughter, it will be a pottery wheel....she asked for it when she saw her cousin's. I wasn't going to get it because it costs too much, but I found a working one at a thrift store for $3! For my son, it will be a Bionicle. I don't like them, but this is a gift from St Nicholas, not me, and St Nicholas often surprises them with things mom disapproves of! ;) But, every kid is so different...I just try to listen closely and I leave an ad around and see what they gravitate toward.... Awesome that you are scaling back with the gift-giving! It will be a blessing for you AND them!!!
Dianne-TX
Thanks. Good gift ideas. My daughter likes crafty stuff. I never thought about a pottery wheel. Are they easy to use for that age? I'll be paying attention or make it a point to go on a "just looking" shopping trip to gain their ideas. I've been keeping a running list of things I hear or see them rave about for a few months now, but nothing worthwhile, just lots of "stuff". I guess it matters that they are interested in it, not that I am. :) I would like to find something that fits in both categories. :)
lovetobehome
Oh! Another idea...K'nex (creativity building toy). Lego sets...my kids are really into Legos. Also Playmobil maybe for your daughter, if she is into that....
LibraryLover
What are their interests? Mine were /are Playmobil -lovers. My 10 yr old dd was drooling over the Egyptian line the other day. Other ideas- Board games, art supplies, books, music, lego, magnets, marbles, tickets to a play or concert...
