Time4tea
I am doing SOTW with a middle schooler so I am using some of the longer advanced reading books. We are on Chapter 13 of SotW 1 and I would like for her to read Mara Daughter of the Nile or His Majesty, Queen Hatshepsut. The reality is she will not be able to finish in a week, but we will move on to the next chapter next week. Does this make things confusing. How do some of you handle the lag time. Some chapters we won't be able to tackle some of the advanced reading at all. So many good books, so little time. Any thoughts would be appreciated. ~tea~
melmichigan
Sonlight Core 6 is set up so the child is always reading a book alongside the SOTW and the parent is also doing a read-aloud as well. I don't find it confusing. In that schedule Mara as a reader was over two weeks. We opted to use it as a read-aloud, which is over 4 weeks. NancyNellen
I assign the book when the subject is discussed. I usually assign a certain number of chapters per day and then just continue with our history studies. It has not been confusing at all for my children. pageta
Yeah, I would just start it when you're doing that chapter and continue it until you're finished while moving on with SOTW.
Time4tea
Thanks. That's what we'll do too. ~tea~
