Do you allow your child to compose (any/all) outlines/essays on the computer or require they be written first longhand and then typed? Thanks! Nicoleab2 Posted August 26, 2009 Share Posted August 26, 2009 Outlines are written out. But I allow my son to type most all of his work. He has dyslexia and writes extremely slow. TraceyS/FL Posted August 26, 2009 Share Posted August 26, 2009 Longhand is pure torture for my DD - everything is typed that she can. Last time she had to write something in cursive it was about 2 pages and she needed ice on her had for HOURS. I actually had my middle DD's OT study her pencil/pen grip a few weeks ago and she agreed it's a problem. I've tried everything she had in her bag of tricks though.... so she suggested a different type of pen to try to force her to lighten up with it. At 13yo there isn't much they can do to remediate it you know? SOOO, i agree, go with your gut and what works for you. (and I know she will have to write on the SAT and she knows typing isn't always an option, i'm hoping the new pen helps) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
