Testimony
My sons got their IOWA test results. My older son is scoring high on inference understanding and low on factual understanding and really high in generalization and analysis. What is the difference between factual and inference? I am so confused because I think that he understands what's implied, but not the facts which does not make sense. Can anyone help and/or make suggestions as to how to improve it? Thank you so much for your assistance. Sincerely, Karen http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/testimony

Wildiris
My guess is that you're right in assuming that he understands what is implied. Perhaps "facts" are the kind of recall from reading that are indisputable, for example the sun is a star and not a planet. A solution might be to get a workbook of non-fiction reading selections that focuses on comprehending information and asks specific, fact related, questions about the reading selections. I hope this may help,
