CamperMom
Has anyone used the math memory song CD's with their children? Did it help them to memorize their math facts? In your opinion, is learning math facts to music good or bad for mental math?
angelovearth
I think that depends on your kids. Mine don't really like learning music cds, especially when kids are singing them. I bought the MUS songs a few years ago and it was a total waste for us. I do think songs help them to memorize facts easier, if the kids are open to them. Just didn't work for us. hth
Spetzi
So many of them have boring songs, imo. Our favorite songs are from School House Rock. The tunes are catchy and the images (if you watch the DVDs) are memorable.
CamperMom
Thanks for your responses. I was looking at the CD's that Veritas Press sells in their catalog. Maybe I'll wait and use the multiplication one when the time comes, rather than all of them.
J'etudie
They work here because my kids remember what they hear sung. So for us, I buy anything and everything on audio that I can. But if your kids learn differently, it's probably not useful.
Alicia64
I would love to get anything on audio -- singing wise -- that would help for English or Math. Where do you find these things? Alicia
Suzannah
I've actually been thinking of this too. I've seen the math CDs from Audio Memory, MUS, VP and other places too. I just can't tell whether any or all of them would be useful. I personally don't care for kids singing on those recordings (which kinda makes me sounds like an ogre but oh well,) but I could live with it I guess. Is anyone able to compare the different ones and explain their preference? Alicia, for other audio learning, have you looked at Lyrical Science and Audio Memory? We have the Lyrical Earth Science CD and I'm thinking of getting one of the life science ones for next year. I'm also looking at one of the history or geography CDs from Audio Memory. http://www.lyricallearning.com/ http://www.audiomemory.com/ Edited June 10, 2009 by Suzannah
