PollyOR
We're going to attempt (no, we ARE going to do) BJU Biology this coming year (or until we finish it). I splurged and bought a microscope to use $:svengo:$. My 13yo has been using it all day since it arrived. She is one happy girl. :001_tt1: She didn't look quite as happy about the critters in the solution that smelled like formaldehyde.

I've been trying to raise money for a month now to buy a microscope for my daughter for next year. We're doing BJU Life Science. Which one did you buy, may I ask?? shea
I would be interested in knowing which microscope you purchased also. I am in the market for one, and haven't yet decided on a model. Thanks, Sue
PollyOR
Sheepishly admitting that I splurged on the microscope.:001_unsure: I bought the Ultimate Home Microscope from Home Science Tools. A couple of things I didn't notice when I was shopping...each microscope has an "additional images" link and a link for the product manual (Home Microscope). Those are very helpful to see closeup which features the microscope has. Also, they have a six minute video showing several different microscopes in use. I am very impressed with Home Science Tools. I put in an order online late Sunday night. They called me Monday morning to let me know that one of the items I had ordered was out of stock and told me that they would be shipping that day. I received the order Wednesday. That was fast! Edited June 4, 2009 by PollyOR
PollyOR
One more plus, Home Science Tools has a standard shipping fee of only $6.95 which helps when ordering a large item like a microscope.

I wish I could get that one, but it's too out far of my price range. :( I'm saving up for this one. http://www.hometrainingtools.com/home-1000x-microscope/p/MI-4100DXL/

shea
I'm sorry, Polly. I didn't mean to put you on the spot. Sue
PollyOR
Did you get the digital camera, too? No. I decided to stay away from anything that would require technical assistance from DH ;).
PollyOR
I'm sorry, Polly. I didn't mean to put you on the spot. Sue Oh Sue, don't feel bad. I'm just in shock over how much I've spent lately. I usually make small purchases throughout the year. This is my first year teaching high school, so I'm buying everything now to be prepared. It's been quite the experience.
