Guest 4boys
Does dictation replace copywork in second grade? Or do you continue doing copywork along with beginning dictation? Possibly a silly question...
Lovedtodeath
The way it is done in WWE is that you do copywork and then the next day you have dictation on the same sentence. Narration sentences are also used for dictation.
sagira
After reading CM's works and taking a copywriting course, I have to say do both. Copying someone's else words and sentences teaches you about spelling, sentence structure, voice, and grammar effortlessly. It stays in your mind. Even adults can benefit from doing this. In K, ds started copying letters (Penmanship overlap). Now I have him copy one challenging word, or short, simple sentences such as "God loves me". He copied the three states of matter another day. I'm not going to stop -- the copywork just gets more difficult and longer, just like everything else. I have Living Memory so I never run out of ideas :) Edited June 1, 2009 by sagira
