Kendall
Is there a good/bad Spanish-English Dictionary? We are going to try SOS Spanish 1 in the fall. Thanks, Kendall
Lisa L. in MI
Hi Kendall, My son has been using Merriam-Webster's Diccionario Espanol-Ingles (sorry-I do not know how to type the accents!) with SOS Spanish 1. HTH, Lisa
Ibbygirl
Is there a good/bad Spanish-English Dictionary? We are going to try SOS Spanish 1 in the fall. Thanks, Kendall I'm not sure what you mean by a "good/bad" dictionary, but I use this one with my student that I teach. http://www.amazon.com/Spanish-English-Dictionary-Diccionario-espa%C3%B1ol/dp/0451181689/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1243224712&sr=8-1 I like it because it has the phonetic pronunciations for each word and also the parts of speech. It also has some verb conjugation models and a short grammar section. I think it is a good well-balanced dictionary and not expensive. Dee in MI
I got the same one as Lisa. In fact, because Lisa told me it was my book and I could, I ripped it in half. I carry around the Spanish section, write it in, and basically abuse it at will. So don't get an expensive one :)
Denise in NE
My daughter takes Spanish at a cooperative with the former head of our state university Spanish department. Her instructor recommends the University of Chicago Dictionary 4th edition (which is the previous edition). My daughter also uses an Oxford Spanish/English dictionary. As a former Spanish instructor myself, I would recommend you get more than one dictionary if your teen is serious about his/her language study.
