  1. My 4th grader is using teaching Textbooks she loves it and I feel she is breezing through it. Is this program enough to prepare a child for college? do you supplement with something else? are there any veterans who have graduated children from the program that can tell me if this program prepared them for SAT and college?
  2. Do you print out the lesson so they can do it on paper?
  3. For those who use teaching textbooks I need advice. I am trying it out this year with my fourth grader. Please help me with these questions How can I have the child show their work? I want to see her work since its multiple choice on the computer? Would you suggest printing out the lesson or keeping a notebook? Give me all your advice on the program. I am moving away from Saxon because we are a large family and I do not have time to do those long Saxon lessons with each child. I want something student led. How have your children done? Has it prepared them for college?
  4. Hello- I need help with a first grader. She did math u see for kindergarten and its all with the manipulative blocks. She does not know any facts besides +0 and +1. How did you teach your first graders the math facts? did you use flash cards? online programs? I am having trouble moving from manipulatives to mental math. Please help!
  5. Can you tell me of a simple science curriculum? I do not want to focus on too many textbooks 1st grade. Living books? Christian preferred. What has worked in your home for science? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. I am using the US edition. The teachers manual says to get number cards or cards with pictures to present topic but when they go into the workbook its 2+2 etc no pictures for them to add when finding the answer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I bought the singapore math curriculum in hopes that it would be good for my first grader who did Math U See Alpha last year. When I am looking through I see them going into addition right away without picture representation or manipulatives. My child is lost. I am discouraged because I think the curriculum jumps into addition too fast. My child is visual she can not see the number in her head this requires abstract thinking. Math U See was perfect in this sense. What should I do!?? She does not know how to add without seeing pictures or using blocks yet. Can someone tell me about Saxon Math? Would this be better for my visual first grader? Or should I continue with Math U See as a continuation from last year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. Need some advice I have a five year old who is doing first grade work in all subjects. Should I have him start story of the world at this age? He just turned five. Has anyone done sotw with five year olds? Can they grasp it? Or should I wait until six? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I like the idea of waking up at 5 am to take care of your well being first and do yoga. I read an article that the most successful people wake up very early and have a morning ritual in which they take care of themselves in the morning. Getting up, working out and doing spiritual work then starting the day instead of waking up when kids get up and just reacting to the daily demands. I am more efficient when I wake up early. Thanks for your comment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks so much I am going to try 6:30 am and get two hours in! I think its brilliant. The baby is sleeping until 8! Love this well see how it goes! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I have a baby ten months who is very active and it is very hard to homeschool my oldest children with her. She chews on books and school supplies, is very loud and the other kids tend to get distracted. I decided to try to wake up my oldest at 7 am and do reading and math before baby gets up. This would be a huge help. Has anyone tried this? I am finding it very hard to homeschool with baby can anyone offer solutions that have worked. She hates high chairs, pack and plays, cribs, and being restrained. All she wants to do is be on the floor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I need help choosing a planner! There are so many can someone recommend one that has worked for them? I was looking into "A simple plan" homeschooling planner. It does seem really simple and inexpensive. What do you use??? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Can some of you share how you handle reading aloud in your homes? How long do you read, how you choose books and do you log them? The teaching the trivium book by the bluedorns suggest two hours of daily read aloud! I know reading aloud in hands down the best way to develop vocabulary, literacy and a love for reading. Tell me your thoughts! I read aloud and also use audible for audio books. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Thanks so much all your comments are very helpful!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Year of playing skillfully is 179.00 that is beyond limit! You can find infinite play activities on google and pintrest for free! I do not think a book is needed to teach kids to learn through play and especially for that amount of money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I think paying 179.00 for "a year of playing skillfully" is ridiculous!!! Do people really need a curriculum to teach kids to play all we need is our imagination, pintrest and google and the world unfolds. Do not confine yourself to a book. You will limit yourself.
