  1. Oh, nevermind. I found a post that mostly answers this question. Thanks.
  2. Anyone have any experience with the study guides for these? Are there online tests anywhere? I have the Dragonfly Teacher's Manual & the Student Book.
  3. Thanks! I really think we need a lab to cement the topics. I already have the dragonfly text, but I do think the new edition looks nice (and would love to have access to test banks and study aids).
  4. Does anyone have any experience with the lab manuals (A&B)? Would they work without a teacher's editon? Would you recommend the virtual lab CD-ROM? Thanks, Lisa
  5. :lurk5: I too would like to know more about the Biology. Looking for something for a science-y 9th grader. I would like to have a paper book, not just an online book. How do you curl up with that? Thanks, Lisa
  6. I cover answers in LOF with post-its, so I guess I can cover answers in the STG too (thanks Coleen for the abbreviation, so much easier to search with it). Now I'm off to look at Teaching Company videos and other things mentioned here. ~Lisa
  7. Has anyone used these? Likes? Dislikes? I rarely post because I can find such good information using searches, but this time the words are either too common OR nobody uses this series (maybe that's my answer). I researching for next year - ninth grade. Thanks, Lisa
  8. Thanks, that's what I thought we would do, too. Just second guessing myself, I guess.
  9. I am unsure whether or not to restart the Beta test with week 1, or begin at Week 3. The work is similar, but not the same. Where are you beginning? Thanks, Liesa
  10. I live about 15 minutes away. We went 3 or 4 times last summer, and it seemed "back to normal" then. I've never rented a beach house there, so I can't say much to the condition of those. HTH!
  11. This looks good, I can use the bingo game with my program. Thanks
  12. Thanks! This is just what I was looking for, I knew you all would know. Switching math programs 7 years into the cycle is a little daunting. I'm glad I have help. ~Lisa
  13. I have an opportunity to switch math programs for my dd5. Years ago, I started my sons in another program and I've stayed with it, so that we wouldn't miss anything. I have already bought this same program for my daughter, but it occurs to me that I really don't like the program we're using anymore. I've been looking at Math-U-See and Singapore. If I were to buy Singapore, what would I buy? The website is confusing. I would love to see a bundle pack, but I don't think there is one. I've read all the threads about Singapore, and have gotten lost in the initials. Can anyone please tell me what the *best* beginning purchase for Singapore is? Also, would you start with K (she's already completed a K in our other program). Thanks, Lisa
  14. <Bump> I'm interested in this, too, as I have one using it this year as well. I would expect it to take one year as this is our third year with Easy Grammar, and we always finish them early. Two pages per day, everyday - it's the easiest thing we do, and they never seem to complain. Hope you get some answers.
  15. CW Aesop A drop-out here. I loved the concept of CW, still do, but the implementation was terrible. My son hated the rewriting of stories - it was like pulling teeth to get him to write. He hates writing now, and he liked it before. I'm probably the only one here who read all the negative reviews of Writing Strands and still bought it. We're starting with level 3 with both boys only because we have taken a year off to recover from CW. Hopefully, we'll be one of the few who succeed with WS. I just want mine writing.... something. I can tweek style and content as we go. Good luck, ~Lisa
  16. My ds11 is very good at math & math concepts, but is very, very slow & exacting. On the Iowa achievement test he will attempt 10 out of 28 problems, and be 100% correct on the attempts. Our math program is mastery based and he really understands the concepts. With what do I supplement, to increase is quantity without sacrificing quality (thinking ahead to hs and the SAT). TIA, Lisa
  17. or is it just supplemental. Are there enough problems to use it exclusively? Do you need alternative texts to learn how to arithmatically solve? I'm looking at this for Pre-Algebra (decimals and fractions) and beyond. Thanks, Lisa
  18. I haven't been unhappy with MMM up until now, but have been a little nervous about the lack of positive reviews of their algebra (Principles in Patterns) program. :glare: I've been looking at MUS and "Life with Fred" with some interest. I'll be watching all the new math posts. :001_smile:
  19. Hi, I"ve been visiting these boards for a while now, homeschooling 7 years, and have not needed to post because all my questions seem to get answered! I love it here, but am so nervous to post! My question: Has anyone used Cornerstone Curriculum's Making Math Meaningful Principles in Patterns? My ds 11 is completing Making Math Meaningful Level 6 and it has come to my attention though this board and internet searches that MMM, as a whole, is not well liked/respected and I really can't find any positive reviews. My children test well, and I hadn't thought to look elsewhere, but the negative reviews have piqued my interest. I can't even find a website that would list standard Math Scope & Sequence to compare to what we've done in 7 levels of MMM. Any advice?:bigear: Thanks, Lisa
