  1. i was thinking about it, but decided i don't want to jump from ancient to american history.
  2. ok, i posted earlier about doing american story 1 with a 2nd grader and a kindergartener, but i am concerned about it being too much for my younger one. if i did animals and their world, it would be perfect for both, only it's not exactly going to cover history. if you have done this program, did you do anything for history and what did you use? i'm just wondering because if i choose to do AW, then i would do AS1 next year, but then i'm not sure what to do for history this year. i would really appreciate any input on this, thank you! :)
  3. thanks for your input! i'm just thinking animal world really doesn't have anything to do with history. can i ask what you're using for history?
  4. well, i don't actually have any of it yet. i just looked at the samples for voyages in english and it looks really good and fun to me. the teacher manual is expensive though, so i want to make sure i really need it before i spend the money.
  5. i ordered rod and staff, but then i returned it. i didn't like that most of it was supposed to be done orally, that it didn't come with a workbook.
  6. thanks for the help :) animal world does sound sound great, i'm just not sure if my second grader would like to study animals the whole year.... but i would like to keep them together and this would definitly not be over my 5 year olds head. did you get it yet? does it seem challenging and fun for a 2nd grader?
  7. here's my plan for language arts for my 2nd grader: voyages in english 2, spellwell and wordly wise 3000. i'm wondering if i have to get the teaching manuals or would they be a waste of money? thanks for your help?
  8. i'm looking into winterpromise the american story 1 for my dd7. i also have a son who will be in kindergarten, and i'm wondering if i can combine them with this program? i would like to keep them together wherever possible so i can avoid teaching the same thing a year or two later. i would just like to know, if any of you did that, how did that work out for you? thanks!
  9. i ordered mine at barnes n noble.com it's free shipping over $25.
  10. Hi, I finally made up my mind and decided to do SOTW Vol 1. I kept changing my mind about where to start with history. But anyway, I was wondering the same thing about wether or not to add more Geography, and I decided to add Daily Geography by Evan-Moor. HTH
  11. Thank you! That does sound like it's what I'm looking for! :) As for the experiments, is it all things that I should already have lying around or will there be some things I need to buy?
  12. i'm planning on using real science odyssey and have been looking at the book list. it's a very long list! if you used the earth and space science program, which books do you think i should get? also, is there a science curriculum for earth and space that just uses one or two books? we love books, but they are expensive!
  13. i'm thinking about using the booklist on tanglewood education for 2nd grade. wondering if anyone used this and supplemented with other books? if, yes, could you share which ones? also, what version of robin hood would you recommend? the one on their list is not available anymore. thanks for any help!

  17. i saw a few sample pages at christianbook.com and i liked them. i think if i do decide, i'll supplement with other books related to the time period, but there seems to be more than enough activities to do, as far as i can tell. i think i read somewhere the teachers guide is recommended, but not required.
