  1. Two of mine started running 5K's at age 7 with my husband. Once they hit 9 we were comfortable allowing them to run off on their own while my husband runs at his own pace and I hang out at the finish line. They started running 1K's and Fun Runs at about age 5. This helps them get into it. My daughter started off much slower and did alternating running/walking at first until she could learn to pace herself with a jog. They also train with our homeschool running club, and run from 1-3 miles each Friday at the park. We just use good sneakers for running.

  2. Go over the Memorial Bridge (the one where the Lincoln Mem is right in front of you when you cross it). Take a right, and then a left, onto the street that runs up the side of the Potomac. Go all the way up that street (you will see parallel parking along it, but probably no spaces), until you go under an overpass. Immediately on the left, there is a free lot that is ALWAYS free, and always has a space.

There. I've let the parking in DC cat outta the bag.

You will have to walk--it's a hike to the Mall and the museums, but it's a nice walk. :D

    You are awesome :) Thanks!

  3. I made a decision when ds was 4 that I couldn't let his mind slow down to the age of his body, especially with math. I wrote most of Saxon (lots of writing!) or we did it orally.

I realize that doesn't answer your question, but if I were you I might do the writing for now and have her try again in a few months. Or you could have dd write out the problem, but not the solution. Have her learn that of writing the problem and answer part step by step.

    Good luck!

    :iagree:

  4. A prayer for the death of Osama bin Laden:

“O God, the Father of all, whose Son commanded us to love our enemies: Lead them and us from prejudice to truth; deliver them and us from hatred, cruelty, and revenge; and in your good time enable us all to stand reconciled before you; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, pg. 816)

This is what I posted this morning. I just can't rejoice in the death of a lost man, but I do feel relieved knowing that this man's evil has been stopped. I'm saddened by our country's rejoicing in his death (which I have seen a bunch of on facebook), especially since it so much resembles the evil that Bin Laden and his followers stand on.

Proverbs 24:17-18 " Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice..."

  5. I use E-MEALZ for my dinner meal plan, and sometimes pull some of the "dinners" as lunches every now and then (especially when I think it is something my husband won't love but the kids will). I try to give variety to the lunches and keep them well-balanced and healthy, but they tend to be a little more kid-friendly than the dinners (sloppy joes, macaroni and cheese, homemade pizzas, etc). Sometimes we do leftovers (if there are any).
