After reading several threads on here about rice cookers I have decided that our family needs one. :) I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for one. I would prefer to spend less that $50. We are a family of four with only two of us likely to eat rice most days. I don't know what size would be best for us. Any thoughts?

I so wish I could do this, but I don't know anything about gardening, and I don't have any space for gardening. (small suburban lot.) Sounds like fun though.

My husband and I have had 6 dogs in our married life. All of the females except one (she is still a puppy and doesn't have a preference yet) have strongly attached to him. We have had two males and they both strongly attached to me. The males that we have had tend to be calmer and more easy going, but I don't know if that is because they are males or more due to the fact that we got them as puppies and the females we adopted when they were around 2 and we were not sure about their life before we got them.

You're welcome! I too tend to get the basics done, but deeper cleaning and decluttering never gets the time it needs. If you think of anything else to add, please share--I'm quite sure I'll be adding to my list as time passes :)
This looks great. I am going to give this a try this month.

This is the paper trimmer that I have on my wish list. I don't know how well it works since I don't have it yet.

My son is very excited about his kindle. He would like to have some books loaded on his kindle. Does anyone have any books that they recommend for an 8 year old boy. He is still struggling with reading so something that I can read to him would be fine, just something an active young boy would like.

Several of you have mentioned supplements. What types of supplements are you using?

We are huge CLE math fans here as well. I have tried so many different math programs. I love Singapore, and I wish my oldest liked it. She prefers CLE math over all of the ones we have tried. I am going to stick with what works for her.

BTW, I heard some peopple had trouble finding the books. Anyone have trouble with that?
I have been wondering about this as well. I love the looks of Truthquest and I think it might be a really good fit for my oldest. I wish that I could tell how many books I would be able to find in kindle format.

You could try what we do.......simply read whole books on topics. You can utilize your library and do science for free. We don't do experiments and my kids are not lacking at all. If anything, I would say that they are very strong in science.
I like this idea. Do you require anything other than reading whole books? Narrations? (written or oral)

I am still a bit concerned though. Permission is granted to use 10 images per publication. There are well over ten images from that particular book. Below that grant of permission it states that, "Republication of any illustration by a another graphic service whether in book or electronic form, or in any design resource is strictly prohibited."
If they used over 10 images then I don't see how that fits with the copyright rule. That rule is clear.
I am not sure what to make of the other part. I can't figure out exactly what that means. Does it mean you can't sell the images in your own clip art book (print or electronically) or does it mean you can't sell anything using the images at all? I am not sure, but either way if they used more than 10 they didn't follow the rules.

It says in the item you purchased that the clipart is public domain. Hope that helps you feel better about it!
Here is information from Dover's site about their clip art CDs.

I have compared scope and sequence of Winning with Writing and Essentials in Writing and Essentials just covers SO MUCH MORE. Very thorough, and goes up to highschool.
That is great news. I have just been too busy to compare them.

Have you seen this new curriculum due to be out within the next month or so?
Essentialsinwriting.com
I would love to see a comparison between the three. I know two of them are new, and no one will have personal experience with them. I just haven't had time to compare scope and sequence charts yet. I am leaning towards either Essentials in Writing or Winning with Writing for my 6th grader next year.

:party:Happy Birthday.
Tomorrow is my birthday, and call me nuts, but I like everyone to fawn over me both days. And if they don't I just get myself something I really want anyhow. 8):iagree: My birthday is tomorrow as well and I feel the same way.

Rice Cooker

I got a Zojirushi bread machine for Christmas so I am looking at their rice cooker, but I don't think my husband is willing to spend that much money on a rice cooker right now. He is one of the non rice eaters in the family. I saw a Zojirushi rice cooker at Costco, but it was a different model. I need to see what the differences are. It was more affordable.
