It's the bread-eating that's getting me. Winter just feels like a time for bread. Made some lovely peanut butter chocolate chip muffins yesterday after our snow walk, then I started a no-knead wheat dough last night to bake up later today.

Did a cardio core flow workout today and I'll try to fit in some yoga later.

Oh the bread gets me too, winter is the time for ALL the baking.  Yesterday I made Buttermilk oatmeal bread and oatmeal chocolate chip muffins.

Hope you enjoyed it!  I had a Norwegian colleague once who said, "Every day you can ski is a great day." He was slightly more fanatical about skiing than I am. 😉

I did enjoy it! It was cold but invigorating, I ended up doing three laps around the field.

Today was my rest day, I did day 12 of Yoga with Adriene and took a nice walk with my husband, son, and the dogs.  Will probably do a bit more yoga or stretching before bed.

  3. Day 56/80, booty day, plus 10 minute abs.  Took a nice long walk with my son and the dogs.  Was going to ski today, but between the walk and moving some cows I think I've had my fill of cold for the day.  It's currently 15 F but it was 6 F this morning.  Will definitely get some skiing in tomorrow since it's my rest day from my workout program.  I've been slacking a bit on my yoga too so will get that in this evening and tomorrow.

Hey ladies. If anyone is having a rough day, here's a little tip from a celtic rock group from Newfoundland. So great - "It's just an ordinary day." Hope you enjoy it.

My favorite from Great Big Sea is their collaboration with Dean Brody (I'm more of a country fan) is "It's Friday." Couple of days too early for that though ;)

I got a short walk in with the dogs and then some cross-country skiing.  My daughter and I are cooking Chicken fried steaks and mashed potatoes because it's my son's 14th birthday, and then I'll still try to squeeze in yoga before bed.  Have to get up early to work cows tomorrow.

  5. The sun is shining and it's a balmy 32 degrees F, so I've spent lots of time out enjoying the sun this afternoon.  I cross-country skied for awhile and then took the dogs for a nice long walk

I love being outside in any weather because it all makes me feel alive. Sun, wind, snow, rain, it's all part of living.

    Yes, exactly!

  6. Day 51/80: Arms, abs, and a**. Yesterday was my rest day from 80 day obsession, but I did get some yoga in.  Other than that it was a really lazy day.

I have the day off of school for MLK day. Yay! Did one of my longer cardio workouts since I have time, and will still do extra activity later today. I have to say that yesterday's extra activity was kind of a waste. Day 16 of 30 days of yoga theme word discipline just focused on breathing. Like breathe in for 6 seconds, breathe out for 7. And this is where it becomes obvious that I lack the true yogi's mindset--I want stretches, I don't care about breathing!

Same here! I've only completed the first 7 days, but a couple of times I've been like, can we just move past the excessive deep breathing and start stretching please?! I'm definitely not cut out to be a yogi

  7. I've been working on this so that I'll know what online class sign-ups I need to be watching for.

    Math: Saxon Algebra 2

Science: Honors Biology online, either through Blue Tent or Homeschool Connections

History: History of the Ancient World by SWB with Study Guide

Lang. Arts: WWS 3, Wasko Lit 1 Ancients (not sure yet if we'll do live or asynchronous, have to wait and see what the schedule is)

Foreign Lang.: Fourth Form Latin, French 3 (online, Global Goose)

Electives: Not decided for sure, but probably P.E. and maybe Astronomy

  8. Day 48/80: leg day.  After a brief warm spell it's cold again, which makes for a very icy road. I'll probably need crampons if I take the dogs for a walk.  On the other hand, the snow should be firmer and reading for cross-country skiing again :)

@FarmingMomma Great photos! Your dogs are adorable. Do they help with your cattle? Thanks for sharing. You got lots of lovely snow for skiing. I hope we get some more soon.

Our corgi-Aussie cross, not in the photos, is my husband's dog and she helps with the cows all the time.  The blue heeler is my daughter's dog, and he helps with the cows sometimes.  The fat black corgi is a couch dog who likes to bark at cows but is absolutely no help at all!

It snowed most of the morning here, which was lovely, but they're calling for rain tonight, which will definitely not be lovely.  I hope the forecast is wrong and we just get more snow.

  10. Yesterday was a rest day, but I did get in some cross-country skiing. Will attempt to attach pics of my chubby dogs in the snow. They weren't sinking into the snow as much this time.

Today was day 45/80 day obsession, Booty day. About to do day 4 of Yoga with Adrienne and then go to bed.

A cozy Saturday morning, post-yoga, post-mocha, visualizing Corgis in the snow (we need a picture!)

I'll try to remember to take the phone with me to get some photos :)

Update: no pics yet, but we did spend a couple of hours cross-country skiing!

  12. My son and I decided to try some nighttime snowshoeing.  It was fun but creepy because it was cloudy and completely pitch black except for our headlamps.  I think it'll be really fun on a bright moonlit night. I think we thoroughly wore out our dogs, especially the fat corgi...she sinks into the snow on every step  Now on to yoga and a shower and bed!
