  1. Evernote! It can easily sync accross devices...so you could type on your desktop...take pictures or videos on your phone...and you just add tags so it could all work together... Example: Take a picture of the activity...and just add tags with each of the children's names that participated in the activity...same would work with voice memos or links you used or anything like that... Later on when you pull up that child's particular tag, all the activities he/she did would show up... It seems like a lot of work...sorry you're going through this.
  2. They are not Muslim. They are based in Israel. I have no idea who listed them on Wikipedia as a Muslim educational institution. I have no fears of Muslims or Islamic extremism. This institution just has a very unusual set up and I find the credibility of the people who run it questionable. That is all. Nothing more to add.
  3. Hi everyone, I am a long time lurker on the boards, but decided to finally join as we are trying to figure out our high school plan. My son will be 13 in a month, and he has been home schooled from the beginning and has never attended a brick and mortar school. He has been doing gr. 7 work, so we are looking at grade 8 this upcoming school year and then high school. We never really planned on how long we would home school. Just took it one year at a time, and now we are almost at high school level. I am not sure I want to home school high school, but then again find myself asking why not. I never attended high school in North America, so I am trying to get familiar with the system. I attended a university prep high school in Germany, and was happy with the education I received, and would like something similar for my son. We are looking for virtual or online school options in Canada, specifically Ontario, or any alternative pathways Canadians have tried. We live close enough to the US border however, that my son might consider US universities as well. Please share your experiences or plans, or point me to previous threads if this has already been discussed. Thanks a lot¨in advance.
  4. I just looked up The Roman Society and they do give grants. It says in 2014 they gave a grant to the following school: Harari College Worldwide, Herzliya, Israel http://www.romansociety.org/grants-prizes/funding-for-schools.html Listed under 2014 grants. This link shows scores of Israeli Bagrut Exams (israeli high school examination) http://www.harari.edu.pl/academics/academic-achievements/ http://www.harari.edu.pl/docs/schoolprofile.pdf 45% of our school body proceed directly to obligatory military service (which makes me think we're talking about the obligatory israeli military service)
  5. Muslim educational system?? What is the Muslim educational system and their international arm? I did not know there was an 'official' Muslim educational system. The principal of the Harari College Worldwide is someone who is studying at the University of Tel Aviv, Israel? Very Muslim of him. ;) There are no personal attacks here. I just posted information about the founder, who says of himself that he is a scholar of Islamic Studies and Arabic Linguistics and Literature, and yet his own personal info on his LinkedIn page does not match this information. He said in this thread above that he started taking graduate courses at the Tel Aviv University while he was in high school, and after that he started writing encyclopedia articles all while still not having completed his BA requirements. His LinkedIn page says that he studied at an Islamic university in Indonesia? I am confused. Really confused. This place has no central office or physical presence anywhere. The facts are really shady. But yeah, it's free...so let's all enjoy it!
  6. HI, I'm new to the forums, although I've been a lurker for a long time. Homeschooling mother of a soon to be 13 year looking ahead at high school options so this discussion was timely. This topic prompted me to register at the forum here, just to add some words of caution. Something about this program set me off. I decided to look up the name of the principal, Orel Beilinson, who says he is a "Scholar of Islamic Studies and Arabic Linguistics and Literature". Here is what his LinkedIn page says / direct copy and paste: Tel Aviv University Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Arabic Language and Literature and Semitic Linguistics2013 – 2016 (expected) Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi Bachelor of Arts (BA), Islamic Studies and Arabic Language2012 – 2015 (expected) So, so far it seems he does not even have a Bachelor Degree from Tel Aviv University, and he is also in process of obtaining a Bachelor Degree form an obscure university in Indonesia?! I don't think people need PhD degrees to be able to teach their children or home school, but if you advertise that you are a 'scholar' of something, and then it turns out that you don't even have a Bachelor Degree...it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Just wanted to add that in hopes it does help someone.
