  1. I don't know how his program works but he may be able to take some of the RN ones before getting into NS.

Specifically, pathophysiology, pharmacology (basic), math calculations for nurses, and nutrition would be better to take before entry. In our program they have pathophysiology the same semester as OB/Peds and Med/surg one. That's 20 credit hours! Thankfully I was able to take those before getting into the program.

Can he take anatomy, chem and microbiology the same semester, this spring? If he can take Physiology and Eng. comp over the summer can he get on the waitlist in Aug.?

  2. I suggest he continues working as an EMT and goes for the RN. The main hospitals in my city no longer hire any LPNs. Our community colleges no longer offer the LVN program. Instead they give an option to take 1 additional course after the 1st year of RN school to pass the LVN boards.

What I did: I'm in my last year of RN school. While I was on the wait list I completed all my non-nursing BSN requirements. I graduate in May with my RN and only have to take 3 additional nursing classes for my BSN.

I'm going to instead work as an RN (nights/weekends) for two years and then attend CU Denver's online RN-Masters program. It's an 18 month program that goes from an associated to a Master's.

Honestly, he will be successful in the nursing field regardless of which program he chooses. Good for him!

  3. I don't have personal experience with this med but I've heard some very positive things about it. It's similar to Geodon. They are both atypical neuroleptics (anti-psychotics) that are used for mood stabilization. They both have had excellent responses in patients especially to those who have not responded well to other meds. Most mood stabilizing drugs are anti-seizure medications (Depakote, Tegretol, Neurontin, Lamictal, Topomax).

It takes several weeks before a patient will notice changes in mood and 4-6 weeks before full therapeutic levels are reached.

If your ds does take this medication be sure to watch for adverse effects especially a fever and involuntary movements or a funny feeling in the mouth, face, tongue, arms or legs.

Good luck to you and your son.

  4. :iagree:

Plus, the $700 billion dollar bailout plan includes the following provisions for review of decisions by Pauslon.

"Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency." :001_huh:

This goes beyond party politics. Please do something NOW. Otherwise we are going to have to explain to our children why we handed over unlimited power to un-elected cabinet heads as we headed down this road to socialism. The Secretary of the Treasury is an appointed position. We did not vote for this person.

The wisdom of the bailout, and whatever new regulations people think are needed, if any, is beside the point. The point is are we going to have a government of laws, or of men?

  5. I have three swimmers this year and I'm a USA swimming official.

Goggles- always have at least two pairs. I take them apart and spell our last name with beads then lace them back up. You may need to try out several pairs before finding the right fit. When you find it buy as many as possible.

Swim bags- each kids has their own. Inside- 2 towles (quick dry ones work best), 2 goggles, 2 caps, fins (try eBay), swimmer snorkel, clothing. Nike Outlet has awesome full size mesh backpacks for $15.

Meets: You will never have enough sharpies and highlighters, bring a book, an iPod and EAR PLUGS especially for inside meets.

Make sure you have the team suit ($$$) before leaving out-of-town meets!

    Have fun!

  6. I'm the one who hasn't lost any weight. I'm 5'7" and 115lbs. so I don't have much to lose. I actually look very similar to a 12 year old boy when I wear a swimsuit.:glare:

I can say that I am getting stronger, way more flexible and toned from the Fit.

My Dh has lost a total of 17 lbs from the Fit.

Our Mii's (from May)- my poor underweight children and pudgy dh. :) 2633442269_a49386bd01.jpg?v=0

A very unflattering picture of me doing my prepubescent boy impression (last week):

  7. My weight has remained the same, or within 3 lbs. I'm not trying to lose, though.

I am certain that my core strength and flexibility has increased tremendously! I do 12 yoga exercises and at least three aerobics ones and various others each day. Even the balance games get me moving and stretching.

    I can't say that I'm "fit" but I'm getting there. :)

  8. We stay to the end. My kids are in three different age groups now and we often have relays at the end so we have to stay.

I'm usually officiating anyway so I'm there until the v e r y end. My dh does all the computer entries and reports at the home meets so he has to stay at least an hour later than the meet.

I very much prefer the morning meets.

ETA: I've seen many moms wear a shirt that states:

If I have but one day left to live

Let it be at a swim meet

    for they last

    F O R E V E R!
