  1. They are using you, but you know that. There's no way I would do it. You will end up being even more resentful every day they drop their little ones off. If you really need the money then take the $20./day offer. But honestly, I doubt you would see a penny. I have a feeling she would never give you a check. She is counting on you to not ask her for one. It will be awkward and uncomfortable for the duration of the friendship.

I can't imagine having the disruption and successfully homeschooling.

  2. I'm sorry. It stinks. And no I will not join in and encourage the huge time sucker. :(

It isn't quite that bad, yet. If I ask he will get off. Dh does spend time with me in the evenings after the kids are asleep. But any opportunity he has to play, he'll take it. I hate it.

It's the first thing he does in the morning as he doesn't have to be at work until 9. He wakes around 5:30, with the littles, and plays while they play at the train table. There are days that I have to go in and say "You have 15 minutes to get to work are you getting dressed today?" I'll get an eye roll and attitude as he shuts it off. WTH?

    I don't get it. It's a freaking game.

  3. I'm making my ds a civil War box for Christmas. I've collected various Civil War relics and reenactments items over the past year. These include a non-firing pistol, canteen, clothing, hat, framed bullets, and various other items.

Anyhow, I purchased a bunch of civil war scrap booking pieces: die cut-outs, currency, stamps, papers.... I was thinking of cutting these out and decoupaging them onto the box.

How would one do that? Do I just glue them down and paint varnish over it? Will the papers run or get ruined if I varnish over them? I won't be able to get more in time if I screw it up.

Any help is appreciated! I don't have the craft gene. Btw-It's a plain rectangular, non-stained wood box.

    TIA!

  4. Yikes, I will keep your family and community in my prayers.

It's very cold in Colorado this week too. It's 4° at my house right now. I am so thankful to have adequate heating. It breaks my heart to know so many don't. :(

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you are able to pick up the presents tomorrow and that you don't lose power!

I say keep the birthday in December.

Mine is May 3rd. It's snowed more times than not on my birthday. :) I do love Colorado, though.

  5. I wouldn't take ambien under those circumstances. I don't even drink a glass of wine if I know my dh might not be home that night. I'm paranoid and worry about not being able to save my kids if something were to happen. Our neighbor's house burned down a couple of years ago and ever since I make the effort to stay in complete control.

I feel your pain. I haven't slept through the night in many years. :grouphug:

  6. I was actually wondering if the sizes would be big enough. My baby sister (15) lives at home, and my dad. But my three brothers (21-30) often are over for dinner, unexpected and at the last minute. She also feeds my five kids every Friday (and sometimes Saturday) night when they sleep over. :)

I'm pretty sure she's up to the cooking part. She's only 55 and very physically active. she walks 1.5 miles to Mass every morning rain, snow or shine. :)

Thanks for the great feedback. I know she'll love it! I'm going to see if I can convince my cousins to do the same thing. Then my aunts can go with her.

  7. Yes and no. I've placed 9 orders between October 10th and last week. I ordered a Build a Road toy for my three year old's birthday. It stated it was "In stock" yet it took 2.5 MONTHS before it arrived. I contacted Amazon when I saw the estimated ship date was Dec 5th (my order was placed on Oct. 10th) and was told that the website stated "Item ships within 2-3 months" in very fine print on the confirmation page. It did.

Everything else came on or before the date they estimated. Build a Road will now be a Christmas present.
