Ok. I tried to be diligent in shopping. I thought we would be ok. I had bought all the meat I figured we would need for the month.
I didn't figure enough for the other stuff. My mom put some on the WalMart card. I bought some more dairy and other things that I can't get for free. So that gave us some breathing room.
Then it happened. Our freezer failed taking most of the meat with it. I have to wait until the 3rd to go to the food shelf and until the 9th to get our food stamps again.
I don't know what to do.

What would you do if your freezer died with about 40 lbs of meat in it and you didn't have a way to refill it?
We get our stamps on the 9th. I get a ride from a friend as we don't have a vehicle so I do all of our meat and frozen veggie shopping on that trip.
I don't have any stamps left to refill it and am scrambling.
Please help me, hive!!

We get our stamps on the 9th. I get a ride from a friend as we don't have a vehicle so I do all of our meat and frozen veggie shopping on that trip.

Do you know if a dehydrator would work as well as the oven for making flour with the pulp?

I posted a similar question about almond milk but those who don't drink it may have skipped over it.
Do any of you make your own coconut milk? Do you notice any price difference in store bought vs your own?
I'm also wondering if the process is the same? Can you use unsweetened coconut flakes instead of fresh coconut?
We're currently using about a gallon to a gallon and a half a week of almond milk. I would definitely use the pulp for flour.

If you have a Costco, I do believe their giant Udi's loaves are a good deal.
We do have a Costco here but a membership there is not in our budget as we get food stamps and what little cash we have goes to diapers and household stuffs.

I want to go GF with paleo inspired breads. My dh loves his rice and oatmeal. The kids would kill my budget without the free bread and various fruits and veggies we get on Tuesdays.

We don't eat corn or soy as most are GMO crops. I will look into GF on a Shoestring.
The bread gets used for peanut butter bread or pb&j for the boys to snack on, especially Mr. Picky. I like it too as a quick post-workout.

I am done with fighting with nasal allergies. The more bread and gluten I eat the worse it gets.
I'd like to start swapping out my flours as a starting point. I'm wondering which is more cost effective between coconut flour and almond flour/meal.
Are there other options to consider? Both Fury and Dragon's metabolisms are starting to fire and their appetites show it. I'd like to do this without breaking the bank OR spending eons in the kitchen.

Today I trained legs. 5x8-12 reps on squats, straight-leg deadlifts, lunges, leg extensions, leg curls, 2 leg calf raises, single leg calf raises, and 5x15 on crunches.

Prayers for Dragon

Dragon, my 11 yo DS, is scheduled for surgery on Wednesday. He has lipomas that keep popping up. This is his fourth surgery. He has one next to his spine and I am worried.
When we met with the surgeon for the consult, he told the doctor that there was one under his chin that sometimes made his jaw numb. This caused alarm with the surgeon and he called a pediatric oncologist friend who called another pediatric oncologist at Riley hospital. Given a family history of cancer, I'm nervous.
Please send prayers and positive thoughts his way.
