  2. Good morning! dd1 made it home yesterday- she is in pretty good spirits- she made her first choice journal. And her internship was moved to remote work for the first two weeks- and then they will see. It was unpaid anyway- so at least she will get experience. Many of her classmates have had their internships (paid and unpaid) cancelled- so she feels pretty lucky.  We are just going to have to arrange how everyone will work from this very small house.

    • coffee/paper
    • probably some clean-up and storing of people's things
    • more snow should melt today- but it will not be gone until tomorrow, I think
    • laundry- started
    • read a little
    • not sure what else

    Have a great day!

  3. Generally, I think they are non-essential. But the hairstylists I know are single mothers who live on a financial edge and I do think that mainly salon services can be done safely with masks.

Also, I used to think that nail salons were super frivolous, but elderly people getting foot care on a regular basis is actually pretty important. Not to mention, I think those services can be done safely as well.

  4. Praying for your trip, Dawn. And bless you and your family for stepping up to help.

Finally, we are headed for warmer, sunny weather. Probably need at least two days to melt all this snow.

    • coffee/paper
    • get milk jug seedlings watered and back outside
    • clean bathrooms
    • clean house
    • dd1 will be home today- lots of reasons- but mostly in case, her internship falls through
    • dd2 is taking social distancing prom pictures today- just sad, not really fun...
    • make list for architect and email
    • not sure what else

    Have a great day!

  9. Good morning! We are going to listen to Messiah today as well- it is nice to see so many people with the same idea! I set out the Easter candy- we don't do baskets anymore and we are having a brunch later.

It snowed about 3-4 inches- so a white Easter, I guess.

Nothing else, except talking to the kids and grandmothers later.

    Have a great day!

  10. Good morning! Today is the last nice day- for a little while. I have to figure out where to put my milk jug seedlings and what to cover or let struggle in the garden. Sometimes Colorado weather is screamingly frustrating.

    • coffee/paper/breakfast
    • finish picking up house
    • find a place for 30 milkjugs
    • cut out pattern- must do today or it won't get done for a while
    • text with friend

    • other cleaning, etc

    Have a great day!

  11. Good morning! Today is dmil's birthay- 84 years old! She is going to drive over- "I won't get out of the car- I am not a prisoner here!" I made her some pretty dishtowels and she asked for a couple of masks- so I did that last night. Not sure when she will come- but we will drop everything to talk with her six feet away. Although her hearing isn't so great- we will have to yell a little.

    • coffee/paper
    • clean kitchen- seriously clean
    • general pick-up
    • hvac appointment
    • cut out pattern- need to do it upstairs- only floor large enough
    • chat with dmil
    • not sure what else

    Have a great day!

  13. Other than savings on gas and the meets/trips, we are still near the same amount of spending. Groceries are up- as college son came home. We elected to keep paying for teams- I don't want our coaches to lose everything. Plus- the coaches are doing zoom drylands and check-ins- I think that is work.

dd2 is spending less as her social life went virtual.

  14. Good morning! It is a lovely sunny morning here. Dh left for his "commute." He is biking to work and back every morning- seems to get his mood sorted and provide a start to the day. I have roses to plant and a few weeds to pull- so I will be out in the sun all morning.

    • out to plant 5 roses

    That's hard. 😞

Dh works with college students and many of them are dealing with big disappointments and disruption. It's a challenging time for that age group.

    This. 100x.

Jobs, internships, quality classes, friends, and no financial relief for most of them.

Those of us living with them are struggling along with them.

  16. Good morning! Somehow I feel better prepared for the week- last week was miserable- but I think I have a better handle on how to deal with the workday. ds2 is on break this week, the other kids have work to do.

    • coffee/paper
    • internet chores/bills
    • clean kitchen
    • get kids up and working
    • cut out a pattern/iron some fabric
    • make a few masks (I am out of elastic as well, using hair ties- works for us, as we are only using them to go to stores)
    • read in the sun
    • water some plants
    • probably water the front yard
    • dh is making dinner

    Have a great day!

  17. The internship for my dd1 is still on- unpaid and generally, crime doesn't take recessions off. She might have to come home- and find unpaid work here. She sees lots of other classmates in worse situations, so she is pretty calm and two years out from graduating- so that makes it easier.

ds1 filed for unemployment with the first wave of filers. Every job he had or could have had in the last two years he would have lost.

ds2- is in limbo- not sure what is going to happen. At least he is only a sophomore.

dd2 is the one- sigh. High school senior with everything canceled. Not sure when she will either get back in the pool or go to college. Every single thing that structured her days and gave her joy is gone. Lots of worry here...

  18. Good morning!

We slept in a little- today is pretty relaxed. No school, probably some work. And the sun is shining- which is much welcome. We should have great weather all next week- makes the small house easier.

    • coffee/paper
    • clean main rooms
    • clean bathrooms
    • some laundry (boys need to do their own)
    • later this afternoon- sit outside and read
    • mark the holes for roses
    • inventory freezer/ figure out meals for next week

    Have a great day!
