Happy birthday to your dd, Selkie! I hope she has a wonderful day!
We are starting our stretch of hot days- have to relearn how to keep the house cool. ds3 is hitting with a friend and we finally got word that his tennis is a go for the summer. We have to drive a little way (to a neighboring county that is following the state's guidelines- not the continued (fill in with descriptive words) pettiness of this county. That means I am back to a taxi service- but I am totally willing and grateful to do it.
- coffee/paper
- check garden/weed a little
- close up the house/turn on the A/C
- general pick up- dust- didn't do that yesterday
- read my library book (they are cleaning up the holds and doing curbside service)
- take ds3 and friend to the courts
- home to quick things-
- pick up
- make some quilt blocks in small snatchs of time today
- no idea on dinnner
Have a great day!

(((Scout)))
I have cried more for my kids this spring than they have cried for themselves.
I totally understand the need for motion, social interaction and the sheer desperation of “what are we going to do now?”
The rolling disappointments are just awful.

Good morning! We are starting a stretch of summer days-80s all week. That should get the plants that have budded moving on to flowers, I hope.
Regular chores and grocery store today.
Maybe more quilt squares.

Bathrooms cleaned
4 quilt blocks made and scraps sorters for next set of blocks
We were pretty sure online classes were going to be a train wreck for ds2 and they were. He will take a gap year if classes are online. His different LDs all conspire against success in the online format.
I am relaxing with a lemonade and trying not to fret.

Honestly, if you don't have buy-in from your teen, homeschooling high school doesn't work well and might be hugely damaging to your relationship.
Teens are going to figure out social things. Mine have all figured out picnics with take-out, bonfires at farms, hikes etc.If you have a social kid and that is the reason they chose b&m high school, that is not going to change even if school is slightly abbreviated. They will still want to be with their friends, even if it is shortened.
I have graduated 3 and am homeschooling one more through high school because he asked me to do it. But my one who chose public school has never regretted her decision and I know that it saved our relationship, as I could never have provided for her social needs at home.

Good morning! The sun is out but it will stay in the mid 60s today. I am going to spend time in the garden, read, maybe a few things in the house. Later, I might sew.
Not sure what anyone else has planned- but there you go.
Have a very nice Memorial Day!

Good morning! We are going to have a cooler day with rain this afternoon. dd1 and ds3 left to go see ds1. ds2 is going to try to get in for a haircut and I expect dd2 will be napping most of the afternoon. She was at a bonfire and campout with her group last night.
The car parade for the seniors was really fun- all the city high schools did it- one after the other in their neighborhoods. The cops and firetruck led the way for each parade and you could hear the honking all over town.
- coffee/paper
- calendar for next week
- laundry started- also have sheets
- probably a little weeding
- update my books read list
- read/relax
- leftovers? pizza for dinner?
Have a great day!

My two best friends are from my kids' swim team. Sitting together for hours in stands over years at a time... Time together is critical to making friends for me.

I'm not suggesting it. I'm saying it happens all the time. It did in my son's health class at a well regarded public high school. Extra credit, and quite a bit of it.
Then why can't it go both ways? GPA overcomes subpar test scores and test scores overcome subpar GPA.
I also think that the low grades/high test scores scenario is most common to males. I have know many boys with this combination who have done well in college- in line with expectations from their test scores. To the shock of their parents- they grew up and did the work.
Grades reflect effort, maturity, ability to work a system, and willingness to conform to the rules. All of which girls succeed at earlier than boys.

Most of my kids' friends are team related (or college related) - so this is hard.
online really isn't cutting it here - doesn't seem to matter whether they are introverts or extroverts.- 3

My dd2's coach has assured his team that they will be on campus even if most of the classes will be online.
No real decisions have been made yet.everyone is in a holding pattern here.

Madewell is nice. You can try Nordstrom Rack for online bargains there.
We got a nice set of studs for dd2 at Target for her birthday. Set of six (sterling silver posts) for around $28.

Good morning! Another hot day here. I have already been out working in the garden- scolding poor perforners and picking spots for some new plants. Not too much is going on today-should be fairly relaxed. Getting ready for the buzz of activity tomorrow.
Have a great day!
